Radiologic Technology, otherwise known as X-ray Technology, involves using sophisticated imaging equipment to photograph parts of the human body.

The responsibilities of performing medical imaging procedures in this occupation include:

  • Assisting physicians by producing images of diagnostic quality
  • Explaining the imaging process to patients
  • Positioning patients and equipment correctly
  • Adhering to the principles of radiation protection
  • Maintaining a working knowledge of equipment functionality
  • Processing images
  • Keeping patient records

Jobs are found in hospitals, physicians' offices, clinics, diagnostic imaging centers, temporary staffing agencies and mobile units.

Graduates may advance in their profession by seeking a bachelor's and/or master's degree in a related field. We currently have an articulation agreement with NAU to help advance students seeking a bachelor's degree in Diagnostic Medical Imaging.

Accreditation is a process used to measure and certify the credibility and quality of services offered by an organization.

The Radiologic Technology program is accredited by the Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology (JRCERT) and graduates are eligible to apply for admission to the certification exam administered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT). Passing the ARRT exam and licensure by the Arizona State Medical Radiologic Technology Board of Examiners (MRTBE) is necessary for employment in AZ. Our students have reported an excellent pass-rate on this exam.

Additionally, GateWay is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools.
